Monaco Best Practices: Forward Planning
Demonstrates using the forward planning technique in Monaco to achieve a conformal breast plan. Forward planning is a user driven approach to IMRT where the user defines the segment shapes and weights rather than relying on the optimizer to find the best combinations. Using Monaco 5.1 Beams Eye View (BEV) is used to correctly define the MLC segments based on the dose displayed in the BEV to block the higher dose regions. Beam weighting is adjusted to balance the dose contribution between the segments to provide an even dose distribution.
